You Can’t Please All Of The People All Of The Time

When should I post? Should I have a weekly newsletter or a monthly one? How many times should I tweet per day?

The simple answer is, ‘I don’t know’. There is no magic formula, just give it a shot and see what happens. The truth is that we all have to start somewhere and refine as we go along. If your open rates are falling on your newsletter it could be the content you are sharing or it could be the frequency or it could be both.

You don’t know until you start making changes. The best way to handle this is one change at a time. Social situations are always complex and as John Lydgate famously said,

“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

Just keep watching and learning and eventually you will find the correct path! The path that works for you!

Align Your Social Media and Business Goals!

Goal + Great Tools = Results!

Focus is everything!

Life can get overwhelming. How do we decide what is important at any one moment.

Keep your business goals and social media goals aligned. This can be achieved with focus.

We can’t be on every social media platform! Nor should we be. We have to decide where our energy is best spent. Focus is the key to achieving our goals. Set a goal and slowly work towards it. The goal creates a filter to shift through the rubble and leaves you with what is most important. If you do not have a filter you will get overwhelmed.

Remember social media is only a tool to achieve your goals. Let’s look at an example for the sake of clarity. How is your mailing list looking? Newsletters are very important to keep your brand and story in front of a group of people who want to hear from you. Make your story consistent; make a commitment to communication being a priority.

Let’s set the goal this month of creating a stronger mailing list. Where are most of our followers, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter? How you can drive traffic to your newsletter sign up page. Where can you add value to your followers? Is it via a giveaway, free content, a discount on an upcoming event or product? Once you decide how to create the right incentive, make it your goal and just keep chipping away at it.

Baby steps are the best kind of movement. They are slow and careful and you are learning all of the time. Slow and steady will get you results in the end. You will move in the right direction, but the key is to keep moving!

Too Many Choices on Social Media?

Having choices is something we all strive for. How is it that having too many choices can lead to a feeling of being paralysed? The feeling of paralysis can be scary and overwhelming.

Focus is the cure. When you feel like you can’t move, concentrate on moving just one toe, or finger. Focus on one small goal for the day. Goals are what keep us on the right track. When you are on the correct path you get lots of new followers on your Twitter account or great feedback on a presentation for your business, but where do you go from there?

Focus on your goals. Keep your eye on the prize and don’t let yourself get sidetracked. You know what is best for you and your business, no one else!

Share what authentically resonates with you and it will strike a cord with your audience. Pursue what is important to you and you cannot go wrong. Each blink and flex is working against inertia. One post at a time, one tweet at a time! Used correctly social media moves you towards the people and goals you want to connect with!

Find Me on Linked In, Twitter, Facebook!

‘Find’ someone to love.

‘Find’ someone to talk to.

We are always looking for something and our favourite place to search is the internet. When we are not searching, we are inviting people to find, follow and friend us on social media.

We are all explorers. We are all searching for people, places and things that will help us get to where we want to be next.  You should never hesitate to contact, follow, tweet or connect with someone. Having a presence online is permission to get social.

It is also important to be proactive. You can exist online and wait for someone to talk to you. Or better yet, you can approach someone and talk to them. The trick is to focus on what you want out of the situation.

You need to decide this so you can –

Attract the right kind of people

Interact with people who interest you

Be the life of the party, don’t be a wallflower. Go on an adventure to find people to like, friend, follow and connect with and see where it all takes you!
